Professional musicians from all over Europe have been coming to the Maggini Foundation for the opportunity to lease high-quality instruments. Through our agency, valuable violins, violas and cellos belonging to private owners and companies are made available to artists at modest leasing rates.
Since 1991, and in Basel since mid-2023, we have been dedicated to fostering outstanding professional musicians and preserving fine string instruments—violins, violas, and cellos—for future generations. Through our work, we help ensure that these remarkable instruments remain active in the hands of artists and continue to enrich the world of classical music. The foundation is named in honour of Giovanni Paolo Maggini (1580–1632), the most renowned violin maker of the Brescian school and one of the great pioneers of Italian string instrument making.
