You must be able to demonstrate that you are capable of handling a valuable string instrument with the utmost care and responsibility at all times.

To confirm your current address, please provide either a copy of a recent utility bill (gas, water, or electricity) or an official certificate of residence issued by your local authorities. The document should be no more than three months old.
Please bring a copy of your personal liability insurance policy.
We kindly ask you to bring an empty instrument case, your bow, and your shoulder rest to the appointment.
Important Information Regarding Rental Fees, Costs, and Return of the Instrument
Instrument insurance is included in the monthly rental fee.
Monthly payments are made by bank transfer. The relevant bank account details can be found in your rental agreement and on the monthly invoices issued by the Foundation.
During the rental period, you are responsible for all costs arising from the use of the instrument, including strings, routine cleaning, the elimination of unwanted noises or adjustments, as well as the final inspection and cleaning upon return.
At least twice per year, the instrument must be inspected and professionally cleaned at your expense by a violin maker approved in consultation with the Foundation. A brief condition report should subsequently be submitted to us.
For marketing purposes and to keep interested instrument owners informed about the artistic life of their instruments, we kindly ask you to share your achievements, photographs, concert engagements, recordings, and CD releases with us whenever possible.
Upon termination of the rental agreement, the instrument must be returned to Basel in person, professionally cleaned, and fitted with a new set of strings. The final inspection and cleaning must be carried out by an experienced violin maker.
